Yeah, I know I’m being that dad. Indulge me. When your 16-year-old daughter actually wants to hit the woods with you for a workout when it’s 24 degrees and freezing fog, you happily oblige — and why not make record of it? I’m acutely aware that such moments will not be available to me forever.
It’s the Frontier Partisans biathlon. Kettlebells and shooting.
We did overhead presses (snatch/press for me); goblet thrusters; rows; and Ceili deadlifted the 24 kg. Also some focus pad and kick-shield work, which was tricky in a few inches of snow.
Multiple sets interspersed with shooting. The shooting conditions were crap — flat, dull light that offered almost no contrast and messed with depth perception. Bear in mind, we’re shooting over iron sights, which I will do until aging eyes no longer allow it (so far, so good). It took Ceili a few rounds to adjust to the conditions, but then she shot very well, and finished with a string of hits with the CZ.
Big fun. And the words, “Dude, you’re wearing me out!” are music to my ears.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with bragging about what you get to do with your kids or bragging on their accomplishments. This was a cool post.
