LucasFilm is posting the short documentaries that were produced to accompany the series The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones. These were of exceptional quality, designed to plumb the historical background covered in the adventure series. The great African hunter, Frederick Courteney Selous, featured in Young Indy’s adventures in the East Africa Campaign of World War I — the campaign in which Selous was killed.
Dreaming of Africa is the only substantial documentary I have been able to find about the legendary hunter, and it’s a good un.

I didn’t realize Selous was on the Young Indy show. The last few years I’ve enjoyed reading accounts of his exploits taking Elephants with the.450 and 4 bore. A surprisingly solid documentary by LucasFilm.

Made back when “Lucasfilm” meant something. ‘Young Indy’ was better than almost anything that came after.
David Wrolson says
Thank you-X-ring hit. Now I have the desire to watch the Young Indy series.
Ben Hill says
I’ve long been a fan of F.C. Selous and am fortunate to have a George Gibbs Farquharson rifle with the special “Selous Plates”.
These Gibbs Farquharsons and the Westley Richard’s “Improved Martini” rifles just speak of the African Frontier.

You are fortunate indeed! How cool…
Ben Hill says
If you find yourself in the Denver CO area you can shoot it!
Reach out via email if that is likely to happen and we could dust off a few rifles I’m sure you would enjoy.
JimC says
That’s a deal!
