The latest episode of the Frontier Partisans Podcast featuring the journals of Warren Angus Ferris is up. You can find it here or on most other podcasting platforms.
I am grateful that Ferris’ descendant, Christine Cohen, urged me to take on this project. Ferris’s memoir is truly a wonderful resource for anyone interested in the life of the Mountain Men and the cultures of the native peoples of the Far West in the early part of the 19th Century.
It was a wonderful experience to delve in depth into the journal and to be transported into the glorious — but dangerous — country of the Rocky Mountains at the very height of the Fur Trade.
Shout out to Hawken Horse for allowing me to use his song Man of the Mountain Land as intro and outro music for this episode. It is the perfect theme…

This podcast is just perfection! You really knocked it out of the park! Your captivating voice, great writing skills, and superpower of storytelling brought Warren Angus Ferris’ story to life to create a treasure! The music choice was so ideal, I thought it was written specifically about Ferris. Thank you with all my heart and thank you from the Ferris descendants. We are all so grateful!

Great Podcast!
I thought the passages from Ferris’s biographies were pretty evocative. More so than some best selling novelists.

Well, I must admit that podcast was my first ever. I had heard the term before but never thought about listening to one. I don’t spend a great deal of time online. My daughter has referred to me as a dinosaur as I’ve never had a cell phone or a credit card, etc.
I will say that having listened to this podcast as they are called, I found very enjoyable. I will now look for the book in print. Thank you, Jim, for broadening this old man’s field of technology. Again, I’m convinced I was born much too late.
JimC says
Well THAT is an honor. And my daughter and son-in-law will get a huge kick out of the notion of ME expanding anybody’s field of technology.

Hello Jim,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the episode you created about my 2x great-grandfather, Warren Angus Ferris. Getting a glimpse into the adventurous life of a family member who passed away 150 years ago is a rare gift! I truly appreciate the time and dedication you put into telling his story.
Best regards,
Melinda (Mindy) Ferris
