I keep forgetting to make note of this upcoming drama: Wes Studi is starring in a “modern Western” set in Oregon titled Timberlands. Here’s the log-line:
“Set against the backdrop of Oregon’s vast timber industry, the Yellowstone-esque story follows two families with a deep-seated generational hatred for each other which comes to a head after the tragic death of one of the families’ celebrated bronc riders. At the center of it all, Russ (Studi), a man with deep ties to his native land, seeks to have the final word and bring about justice to a rivalry threatening to consume all they have left.”
Deadline reports that:
“The film’s consultants include the Klamath Tribes of Oregon and sponsors include Carhartt, American Hat Company and Seven Feathers Casino of the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe of Oregon.”
That’s damn near local for us. And if it sounds a whole lot like the Taylor Sheridan universe, well…

Quixotic Mainer scouted up this piece and I thought I’d kick it up into a post.

Very nice piece on the Manurhin MR73. I could get behind a training regimen of 150 rounds of .357 Magnum a day.

I think J.F. Bell got it right on the Dutton Rifle from 1923. Looks like the Savage 1920:

Here’s another from Tom Langhorne.

My friend Craig Rullman has signed himself up for a Tactical Games event in Idaho in June. I cannot do the event due to work commitments, but I am all-in on the training. Whoo boy… this is demanding — and humbling. The FP Biathlon has provided a solid base, but this weekend’s session revealed areas that need significant improvement.

This is terrifying…

Quixotic Mainer says
My mother hunts with an ancient Savage much like that one, given her by her father in the long ago. It’s a quirky but lethal old thing, and the 1st centerfire rifle I shot.
A couple guys I work with have done the tactical games in New Hampshire, looks like quite an adventure. Maybe someday I can give it a whirl, but I shoot too many disciplines as it is.
