Frontier Partisans

The Adventurers, Rangers and Scouts Who Fought the Battles of Empire

The Revenant Trailer

I’m still catching my breath. Pole-axed. I can’t believe how good this looks.

Thanks to John Maddox Roberts for the heads-up.

Seems it’s based on a novel by Michael Punke. Apparently a first novel. I’m ordering it.

I looked it up. Apparently this movie has been a long time filming, partly because it is shot entirely by natural light. This means they only had a few hours each day to shoot. This keeps looking better and better.

The natural light thing explains some of the “look,” which is very real. That quick, sweeping pan shot along the river is masterful. And the intensity!

Tom Hardy may be the scariest looking dude on screen, too.

      Yes, better and better….

Looks like a grittier version of Man in the wilderness. Based ,I believe, on Hugh Glass exploits as a mountain man.

That’s correct. One of the most incredible tails of survival in the annals of the Frontier Partisans.

Yeah, definitely one I’ll try to see on the BIG Screen. Have you seen the Richard Harris “Man In The Wilderness” yet, Jim C.?

I have not seen “Man” yet. Maybe one to track down on DVD before this one hits the screen.

When Man in the wilderness came out it was pretty gritty for it’s time. Richard Harris does a good job. Richard Harris did a few good westerns . A man called horse and return of a man called horse and had a part in Eastwoods Unforgiven as the Duck of Death, as Little Bill called him.
