‘Hardin’ Launches Crowdfunding Campaign

July 22, 2016, by JimC

HardinI’ve been watching the effort to get the story of Texas gunman John Wesley Hardin up on screen for some time. The film makers behind the movie project “Hardin” have just announced an Indiegogo campaign to fund a trailer. Being in the middle of my own crowd-funding campaign, I can appreciate what these folks are doing. I am impressed with their commitment to tell the story of John Wesley Hardin with accuracy and authenticity. It will make a helluva movie.

I’ll chip in a bit. If you’re moved to help out, here’s the link.

Here’s a bit of the pitch:

John Wesley Hardin is one of the deadliest known legends to come from the Old West, but he is also one of the most underrated. We all know the tales of Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Doc Holiday, etc.. But too few know about the story of John Wesley Hardin, and too few have touched on it. Besides “The Lawless Breed (1953)”, Hardin’s story has barely been touched upon in the film industry, despite his story inspiring many sequences in classic Westerns. It’s time the story of Hardin get the spotlight it deserves. Our goal in the movie “Hardin” is to not only portray his story as accurately as possible, but to also make a standout film in the new Western Revival that this last decade has seen, while being a standout drama as well.

Where Will Your Donations Go?

With your donations and support, we hope to film a trailer for the film. You may ask yourself:
“Why film a trailer, and how will this make a difference in making the film?”
Well, in order to secure the final budget needed to make the feature length film, we will film a trailer, and some scenes from the script. These will then be shown to studios and investors in order to secure a budget. This is being done in order to show that the investment is viable and is appealing to a wide array of audiences, with a story that contains intense drama and action.
This is why your contributions will make such a huge difference in the the fate of the film, and this will put us one step closer to it hopefully being made into the intended feature film. With you contributions, and our goal of $5,000, we will be able to start the work of getting the project off the ground, and the film one step closer to being projected on the silver screen.
