Just discovered the Eastern Frontier art of Steve White. I like. I like a lot. The 1750s-1815 era east of the Mississippi has become a very popular subject for historical art. Robert W. Griffing, John Buxton and David Wright are the titans of the genre, but there are many other equally compelling artists working these old hunting grounds.
Steve White, a Kentucky native, is a worthy addition to the field. He’s a reenactor and his attention to detail is outstanding, using artifacts rather than imagination for reference for clothing and accoutrements. And his subject matter is some of the most dramatic in all of history.
I particularly appreciate the paintings depicting my old frontier hero Simon Kenton. And his work with the Indians is excellent as well. His prints are affordable — and I may have to have one.
This truly is a golden age for Frontier Partisan art. White’s website is here.

That is good stuff!

His paintings have an extraordinary 3D quality to them. He uses depth of field the way a photographer would. How cool to see depictions of scenes right out of The Frontiersman.

Just now discovering this artist. So cool! I agree with you on the Simon Kenton paintings (and the Blue Jacket one is fabulous too). One of my sons is named Beau Kenton after THE frontiersman.

That is fantastic! An honorable name, by all means.

I purchased a print on canvas of Blue Jacket about three weeks ago. When may I expect to receive it? The children are wanting a father’s day present. Thanks.
