Me and Bill there we both come from GeorgiaMet Hank out in New MexicoWe’re bound for Duranqo to join Pancho VillaWe hear that he’s payin’ in gold
I guess a man’s got to do what he’s best atAin’t found nothin’ better so farBeen called mercenaries and men with no countryJust soldiers in search of a war
And we‘re bound for the borderWe‘re soldiers of fortuneAnd we’ll fight for no countryBut we’ll die for good payUnder the flag of of the greenback dollarOr the peso down Mexico way

Another fine doc from LucasFilm exploring the history underpinning The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones. It seems Young Indy made an illicit Spring Break trip in March 1916 that put him in the right place at the right time to blunder into Pancho Villa’s Columbus Raid.
This is s very solid doc with some remarkable footage — with a little repetition cuz there just ain’t a lot of it. The MexRev is one of the great Frontier Partisans stories …

Frontier Partisans reader Chuck noted that Steve Earle was recently invited to become a member of the Grand Ol’ Opry. The old outlaw got a little verklempt. He sure did it the Hard Way.

The Earle reference reminded me that Tamara Saviano’s doco “Without Getting Killed or Caught” is streaming on Tubi.
You’ve likely already seen it but in my case anyway it stands up to more than one viewing.

What a fine labor of love that is.

Sitting in Monterrey, Mexico right now! Timely piece. I saw that Steve was invited to be a member of the Grand Old Opry recently.

The site of historic Frontier Partisan action. I will chug a Topo Chico in your honor. And, yes, Steve got the Opry nod. I should have noted that.

Enjoyed the Villa video by Lucas films…the raid on Columbus, and the Pershing push into Mexico. There were some really great images of Villa and the life of soldiers and our guys as they chased Villa and his Dorados.
Mil Gracias! Lynda
