Can Lou Jeanmonnot take the Total Score Crystal Globe this season? She placed 2nd last year, despite missing two races due to COVID, a pretty incredible achievement.
Biathlon World Cup season is getting underway with the opener in Kontiolahti, Finland, which takes place from November 30 to December 8.
Having lost what little interest I had left in the “major” sports, biathlon and tennis remain. I find biathlon most inspiring; I don’t call my five-times-a-week workout the Frontier Partisan Biathlon for nothing. For those unfamiliar, the FP Biathlon involves kettlebell complexes in place of skiing. If the winter shapes up the way it’s promised to, I may get some actual time on skis and snowshoes, too.
Anyways….
Rough news to start with: Lisa Vittozzi will skip the first competition of the season due to back problems, which puts her behind in a quest to defend her Total Score Championship crystal globe. That’s a real bummer because she was an absolute joy to watch last year. On the men’s side, Johannes Thingnes Bø is poised to repeat. He, too, was a joy to watch in 2023.
Lookit this blazing fast run:
Brian Halligan, whose YouTube Channel I enjoy a lot, has made his predictions:
Biathlon shooting technique is very interesting. Halligan breaks it down.
