I have Amur tigers padding all through my house. Lane Batot sent me a copy of “The Tiger,” the tale of a 1990s hunt for a mankilling Amur tiger in the Russian Far East. Outstanding book, which I will post on in more detail soon.

Sisters artist and wild man Steve Frandsen kicked up a video of a performance by Olga Podluzhnaya Uutai. She plays a Russian version of what we call a Jew’s Harp — and lets loose with incredible animal cries in a performance that evokes something very, very old. And she looks like a Rus Valkyrie.
