There’s only a handful of people I am willing to shoot with. Mostly, for me, it’s a solitary activity. But man it’s fun to get together with some good buddies and burn powder. My friend Jack McGowan and his son Travis joined my wife Marilyn, daughter Ceili and I out at Zimmerman Butte Saturday morning. It was Ceili’s and Marilyn’s first opportunity to shoot an AR-15 and both did well on Travis’s Bushmaster with a red dot sight.
Ceili was devastating. She pretty much ran the table on the clays with a couple of magazines (loaded with 10 rounds each). She also shot a Weatherby Vanguard in .30-06. Two rounds — first a near-miss, second one a clay-vaporizing hit. She’s a damn good shot, that girl. And I am really impressed with the rifle. Basically a Howa — a Japanese-made working man’s rifle, but well-built and a great shooter with a nice trigger.
Good, clean fun.

This just before the ISIS post article, and after the tragedy in France, can’t help but make one wonder that YES, the “good guys”/ordinary citizens of the world REALLY NEED to be better armed and ready at all times with the present day terrorist threat. Sorry gun-control folks, but disarming the law-abiding general public just makes things easier for the terrorists and criminals of the world……
