We’ve got a pretty bad fire going in Sisters Country — 18,000+ acres with confirmed structure loss. Also know that there’s been some good saves, and we’re hopeful that losses are minimal. We have many friends under evacuation.
Some very beautiful areas have burned.
The Flat Fire was human-caused, which is infuriating. Tremendous disruption and fear, and massive expense, all due to negligent behavior.
This has become life in the West.

Sorry to hear that Jim. It’s been the same story everywhere in this dry summer.

Stay safe and pack a go-bag.
I’ve loved visiting Sisters but even a couple years ago it struck me as quite vulnerable to wildfires.
Special place in hell for those who are careless or destructive in the bush.

Yep. On all counts.

Sad to see that. I was in line to be in the next evac order back in 2012 for the Waldo Canyon fire of Colorado Springs and the cabin we lived in before that burned up in the Calf canyon/Hermit’s Peak fire of 2022. Obviously we had moved from the area long before the 2022 fire but the loss of such beautiful forests. It wouldn’t be very healthy to be caught with a gas can up in the hills about now. Now I’m not recommending any course of action should some arsonist be discovered but…
Prayers for all concerned.
