One of the finest writers of frontier fiction on the prairie is coming to my beloved local independent bookstore, Paulina Springs Books. Literarily, if not literally. Michael Zimmer is joining the esteemed historical novelist Jane Kirkpatrick for a virtual event on Thursday, November 11. You can bet I’ll be there.
Get ye over to Paulina Springs’ website to sign up.
I’ve been impressed by everything I’ve read by Zimmer, including The Poacher’s Daughter. I consider his Mountain Man novel, Fandango, to be the equal of A.B. Guthrie’s classic The Big Sky, or Vardis Fisher’s Mountain Man, or Harvey Fergusson’s Wolf Song. That’s not hyperbole — I mean it. I am most pleased to get to “meet” the man at long last.
I’ve known Jane Kirpatrick since I worked at Paulina Springs, when she was first launching what has become a prolific and award-winning career as a frontier historical novelist. She is most engaging. I am certain this will be an instructive and inspiring evening. Hope some of y’all can make it.
