Visitors to the Frontier Partisans campfire know that I am prone to suddenly grab rifle and bedroll and hie off down any attractive historical sidetrail that catches my eye.
Though it can wreak havoc on my focus, I make no apologies for this trait; a good part of the fun of historical exploration is to be found in losing your way in a canebrake or getting lost in some exotic cave complex. Might as well make the best of it, I figured, so I’ve decided to add a Sidetrails feature for patrons of Frontier Partisans. These will be relatively brief, highly informal podcasts, available exclusively through the Patreon page.
You can access the Patreon page here.
So… if you want to journey down the Sidetrails, you’ve got to sign on with the crew. Standard Pirate Articles apply: equitable division of spoils (if any); just compensation for loss of limbs or eyes, etc.
The first Sidetrails episode was inspired by a serrated bayonet and leads to a hinge-stocked blunderbuss, exploration in Africa, and (possibly) a quest for the Ark of the Covenant. How’s THAT for a teaser?
