Believe it or not — I certainly struggle to conceive it — this year marks a full decade of Frontier Partisans.
I launched this blog in June 2011 with a post on Charles Michel de Langlade, a French-Ottawa warrior who has to stand among the all-time Frontier Partisan badasses.
Over that decade, I’ve published more than 1,500 posts, and we’ve shared a dialogue running to 16,000-plus comments. We’ve created a virtual campfire that draws hundreds of readers each day.
In the past decade, FP readers supported the publication of my book Warriors of the Wildlands: True Tales of the Frontier Partisans (a mere handful of copies are still available through Paulina Springs Books in Sisters, Oregon), the opening of a trading post, and the launch of The Frontier Partisans Podcast just this year.
Most important of all, I’ve found some great friends here, some of whom I’ve met in person; most of whom are out on far-flung frontiers where our trails have only crossed in the virtual world.
I’ve now established a Patreon page so that those who feel so inclined can provide ongoing support for Frontier Partisans. I like to think the blog and podcast provide value that is worth plunking down a few plews each month. That support will allow me to keep this thing rolling — and expand our territory. Here’s the link.
There are three tiers of support available.
Scout = $5/month
- Patron recognition
Partisan = $10/month
- Bonus episodes
- Patron recognition
- Eligible for drawing for plunder
Captain = $20/month
- Bonus episodes
- Patron recognition
- Eligible for drawing for plunder
- “Ask Me Anything” e-mail exchange
I’m open to modifying these tiers if any of you have ideas or things you would like to get from your interaction with Frontier Partisans.
As always, I appreciate your interest and support and enjoy your company at the campfire…

Dang, has it been that long? I think my first discovery of this splendid, well-attended blog was in a Forest Carter post, or something like that, way back when. And I proceeded to go back and read every post prior to it, to git “caught up”. It has definitely enriched my life, for which I thank you. It has been wonderful to have a place to share common thoughts and stories! I’ve learned a lot from this campsite…..

That’s most gratifying to hear.

Congrats on the decade of trading verbal plews around the campfire pard! I don’t doubt that the next decade will be even richer in exploring the dusty tomes and dark recesses of information and making new pards along the way.
Keep up the amazing work sir!

Thanks EC — it’s great to hear from you again. Hope all is well and things have improved since December. Oh, and regarding podcasts — if I can handle the tech, you can, I promise you. Get in touch if you’d like, and we can kick it around a bit.
