“Proofs of OUr Courage,” by Andrew Knez, Jr. “One can only imagine what must have been going through the minds of Daniel Boone and Joseph Martin that fateful Spring of 1775, as Boone and his road cutters passed by Martin’s little band completing their small station in Powell’s Valley….”
The art of Andrew Knez, Jr. has been popping up all over lately. From the cover of Backwoodsman Magazine to the cover of Wargames Illustrated’s December issue, to the Web site for historic Martin’s Station, it’s there in all its Eastern Woodland Frontier glory.
To his credit, Knez has developed his own style and does not come across as an imitator of the giants in the field, Robert W. Griffing and David Wright. His paintings often depict a specific historical event or incident and his Web site offers a great deal of detail on the background of his paintings.
I really appreciate that the artist offers note cards; they are an affordable way for cash-strapped pilgrims like myself to purchase some of his art. And then maybe one day…
