Apparently, it was a hit: Some 13.4 million viewers of the first part, making it the highest-rated basic cable movie premier ever. That bodes well for Frontier Partisan Cinema. There’s a market for mayhem in the mountains.
The writers really captured the humanity of the story, in all its pathos and horror. You could understand the motivations of all the players, whether you accept them or not. It was not a morality play, but there were moral lessons to be taken from it. Compelling storytelling.
If you haven’t seen it, keep an eye out for re-runs or rent it when it hits DVD in July. It’s time well-spent.
