Blogger searches for the perfect Western

by JimC on November 4, 2011

This newfangled telegraph we’re on can be pretty cool. While doing a little research for an upcoming Frontier Partisans piece, I stumbled upon a relatively new blog called Slap Bookleather, described by its author as “a saddletramp’s multi-media, cross genre search for the perfect western.”

I like it. A lot. I sense a kindred spirit.

The blog has more of a pop culture orientation than a historical one, but Slap clearly knows his American frontier history. He says his favorite period is the first half of the 19th Century — and I like his reasons. The content ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous — and it’s all fun. From book reviews to explorations of Steampunk to a collection of … umm… revealing Euro-Western covers by the artist Sanjulian, Slap Bookleather is fine country to explore.

Head on over there and give it a looksee.

Jim…

Appreciate the scouting intelligence gathering regarding [All] things “Saddle Tramp”.
Yes, I will take a looksee and beyond.
Have a safe road trip down the broken lines.
I recently consumed the Steve Jobs bio in 3 days running. An odd journey through his wild west, slinging digital bullets in paradoxical zen koans. As Mark Twain reminds us … “Truth is stranger than fiction, because fiction has to make sense”.

Keep the site rollin’ …
